According to Wikipedia the definition of an expat(riat) is as follows:

An expatriate (often shortened to expat) is a person temporarily or permanently residing in a country other than their native country. In common usage, the term often refers to professionals, skilled workers, or artists taking positions outside their home country, either independently or sent abroad by their employers, who can be companies, universities, governments, or non-governmental organisations. Effectively migrant workers, they usually earn more than they would at home, and more than local employees. In case of an expat family typically packages include besides wages also allowances such as housing, schooling etc. However, the term 'expatriate' is also used for retirees and others who have chosen to live outside their native country.

Third culture kids

Means the children are born and raised for a set period of time, in a country other than their parents respective home countries. Third culture kids hold a minimum of 2 passports.

In our case
Germany+Belgium= 2 kids born in Qatar and raised in Panama
The kids are trilingual even though German is deemed Mamas secret language.

After 12 years and 6 countries we feel exotic in our homecountries.

In our expat bubble we are in good company and by far not the most exotic of them all. We are in process of being expats in reverse leaving the as safe perceived corporate life behinnd settling here in Panama, focusing on our health coaching and personal development practice.
We had chosen the ever changing lifestyle for ourselves but with kids on board our goals and values changes and our desire grew to be more grounded and offer a home to our kids not just emotionally but physically.

Empowered despite

Being a mum suffering from Hashimotos disease and Thyroidism the family dynamic has greatly changed. We know about the personal challenges for anyone dealing with symptoms such as low energy, fatigue, moodswings, anxiety and how it is to be deemed healthy by ridicululously expensive blood test even though seemings just feels off, just not feeling like myself.
We are here to share our story and offer help with our health coaching and personal development plans.
